Ada's on the River | Great Dining in Old Town Alexandria on the Water

Updated: May 28

I had the pleasure of taking Seller clients out for a celebration dinner at Ada's on the River in Old Town Alexandria. First time dining there after walking past too many times to count on my walks through Old Town. The first visit did not disappoint. A great dining experience in Old Town on the Water. It was so good that I scheduled a return visit to enjoy lunch on their patio overlooking the Potomac.

Check out their menu at Ada's on the River's website.  Then make plans to enjoy lunch or dinner at Ada's. Or both.

Our choices for dinner were fabulous. The mini Black Brioche loaf with charred orange butter and seared Tuna with Avocado mousse to start. Then on to Crab-stuffed Trout, seared Scallops in a Soubise sauce, & smoked Swordfish with a Pomegranate sauce. Our community side was the coal-roasted Asparagus with a white chocolate Bearnaise sauce (which was just as amazing as it sounds). We finished the evening by sharing the Lemon Tart with Blueberry-black pepper syrup (or equally correct to say, Blueberry-black pepper syrup served with a side of Lemon Tart, as the syrup was THAT good). We also shared the Caramel-Apple Beignets, which were perfect with my Espresso.

For my lunch return, I already committed to try the Beef Tatare as a starter after seeing how tasty it looked when served at the table next to us at dinner. It was fabulous. If you like raw tenderloin, I highly recommend. I also had the Wood-grillled market fish sammich, which was Mahi-Mahi, with smoked tomatoes & lemon aioli. Accompanied by a glass (or two) of a Sancerre.

Perfect weather, excellent lunch.
